Mari Sarai is a Japanese Art photographer who has worked in New York, London, and Tokyo. MARI was born in Nara, Japan. She studied photography and English at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles when she was a teenager. After beginning her career as a photojournalist in New York, Mari moved back to Japan and transitioned to fashion photography. After 6 years fashion photographer's carrier in Tokyo, she relocated to London where she became a well-established fashion photographer, shooting for magazines such as i-D, Harper's Bazaar UK and Dazed & Confused. in 2014, she moved back to New York to seek her American dream with her family. Her work appearing in the likes of Interview Magazine and Vogue Japan, shooting likes of Adele, Scarlett Johansson, and in late Amy Winehouse.
Cristi Lyon is a multidisciplinary artist. She works in paint, glass, print, and ceramics. Her goal is to portray the material world in a direct but lush manner. She has an uncommon background in that rather than follow a degree program she undertook a self guided study of art while working in the animation industry. She spent the last years of her animation career at Dreamworks SKG, but everyone wants to hear about her time on Ren and Stimpy. She lives in Northeast Los Angeles with her family and two cats.
Victoria Manganiello is an artist, designer, educator, and organizer. She has received many recognized grants, commissions, and residency appointments and exhibited her woven paintings, kinetic installations, artist books, and films across the USA, in Europe, Asia, and Australia. She is also a part-time assistant professor of textiles at Parsons and NYU, co-organizes an annual artist residency for electronic textile practitioners, and co-runs an art and design collective called Craftwork Collective.
Rachel Kohn lives and works in Brooklyn, N.Y. She received her B.A. from Skidmore College in art and mathematics, and her M.F.A. from Hunter College in painting. She has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally in galleries including Crossing Art Gallery, NY, Denise Bibro Fine Art, N.Y., Lake George Arts Projects, Lake George, NY, Tarryn Teresa Gallery, LA, and GV Art Gallery, London.
Patricia Fabricant is a painter, curator, and book designer, from NYC. She received her BA from Wesleyan University. Her abstract and figurative paintings have been exhibited at such galleries as M David & Co, Front Room, Equity Gallery, and 490 Atlantic. Her curatorial practice includes three editions of the benefit group show, Among Friends, Studio Mates at Front Room, and With the Grain and Process & Delight: The New P&D, at Equity Gallery. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Fabienne (Fab) Sowa-Dobkowski is a California-based self-taught photographer with a PhD in Art History. Her work blends fine art and photography to explore the connection between humanity and nature. Born in Belgium and inspired by her international experiences, she balances her roles as an art historian and artist in the Bay Area and the tranquil Sierra Nevada Foothills. Fab's evocative work can be found in both public and private collections in the US and in Europe.
Katasi is a multidisciplinary visual artist and UX design lead at Google. As an artist, she works across different mediums including digital art, large-scale abstract paintings, and sculptures. Katasi is also a UX instructor for SheDesigns, a community for women of color pursuing careers in technology. Throughout her life she has learned to value her unique experiences and perspectives, working to amplify them as a way to respect and empower others.
Younkin received her BFA from California College of the Arts and MFA from Parsons The New School. Her vibrant paintings were recently exhibited with Studio 41 and 440 Gallery. Younkin’s work resides in the permanent collection of the Ramsey County Historical Society in Minnesota as part of their exhibit “Persistence: Continuing the Struggle for Suffrage and Equality: 1848-2020”. Her work was recenty published in I Like Your Work’s 2023 Summer Exhibition Catalog “Esprit de l’escalier'' curated by Alicia Puig.
Brandon Hodges is a multi-disciplinary artist based out of Oakland, California. He expresses himself through drawing, painting, and by making collages out of trash found on the streets of his neighborhood and elsewhere. He currently lives with his dog (a pug named Kita) and two cats (Mazzy & Maya). When he’s not creating, you can find him reading, going to festivals & shows, camping, hiking, at the beach, or spending time with friends and family.
James Ehling is an abstract collage artist who was born in Syracuse, New York and who currently lives and works in Framingham, Massachusetts. He received a BFA from Tufts University and a Studio Art Diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. James works with acrylic, fabric and colored tissue paper to create complex and colorful compositions that give the eye just enough information to start drawing conclusions but not enough information to be completely certain what's it's seeing. James has work in private collections in Stockholm, Copenhagen, San Francisco and throughout New England.
Born in Paris, France, Valérie Hallier came to NYC with a Fulbright Scholarship and graduated from SVA in Computer Arts. She has been shown internationally including in the US and in Europe. Residencies include LMCC Swing Space, Pioneer Works, NARS Foundation, Trestle Art Space in Brooklyn, Harvestworks, West Harlem Art Fund, 4Heads on Governors Island and ESKFF Foundation, Mina Contemporary in New Jersey. Hallier was recently the recipient of a Contemporary Art Foundation grant and a MAAF (NYSCA & WaveFarm) grant.
Lauder Bowden, born in New York during the Baby Boom era, is an artist and designer. A child of immigrants from Scotland and Hungary, he was encouraged by his father to to pursue the arts and design which culminated with a BFA from Pratt Institute. Fleeting moments of the mundane appeal to his subject matter as well as everyday snapshots of inanimate and animate objects to both display the human condition portrayed through abstraction and narrative works.
Sunny Chapman retired from performing as a singer, & dancer, designing jewelry for stores like Barneys and Saks, activism and making documentaries to make art, a little jewelry and occasional poetry in Brooklyn and the Catskills. She was a street artist whose character Flower Face was published in the book Brooklyn Street Art. She resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and in the Catskills. Chapman's studio art has been widely shown in galleries largely in the Northeast. Her art and poetry are published in books as well, her documentaries about Crisis Pregnancy Centers are distributed by The Cinema Guild. She is also the curator of the Birdhouse Gallery.
Marta is redefining abstract expressionism on her own terms. Her works are fun and experimental, spanning mediums and combining techniques such as painting, printmaking, digital art, and more. The bold, vibrant colors and focus on abstracted images come from an intuitive exploration of the interactions of colors, shapes, and textures in our world. Her works take the viewer to abstract worlds and imaginary lands. Originally from Warsaw, Poland, but since 2020, she is based in Summit, NJ. Marta discovered her passion for art in 2016 and since then she has studied art in art schools in Poland, the UK, and the US. Marta's artworks were exhibited during group shows in Europe and the US. John Cox is an abstract painter based in Croton-on-Hudson. NY. He earned his Bachelors of Fine Art in Painting in May 2002 from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Afterwards, John moved to New York City where he attended Hunter College and earned a Masters of Fine Art with a concentration in painting in May of 2006. His work embraces technological glitches by employing machine customized tools to translate experienced digital disorder into gestural marks that imprecisely mimic wave patterns.
"I had a Museum show at the Islip Museum called Print Up Ladies. I was in the company of my life long idols such as Murray, Frankenthaler, Swoon, Yuskagave, and Bontecou to name a few. I have shown at St. Joseph’s College, MacArthur Airport, and Alfred Loen Gallery, as well as the Painting Center in Chelsea, and the Omni Gallery in Uniondale. I have exhibited at the Hecksher Museum Biennial, M. David and Company, Denise Bibro and George Billis Gallery."
Christina's mixed-media works are engaged in a perpetual struggle to burst out of whatever shape that holds them together. A philosopher once said that any artwork is a battle between material and content - this cannot be truer when Christina uses fabric like khakis, linen, and yarn that usually function to clothe and decorate our bodies but in her works given freedom to emanate energy on their own. In a sense, her approach seems like a rebellion against the way we in the modern times tend to bend nature as an object of our own use. When given the smallest crevice, nature will re-emerge in its full majestic force.
Til Will is a Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist and producer. He is the co founder and director of the label Y3S Recordings, which released four EPs and organized three live shows in 2021. Will is also the founder of Open House, a curatorial project space that hosted exhibitions and published criticism as well as artist interviews online from 2015-2018. He participated as a curator in Spring Break Art Show in 2017 and 2018. In October of 2018, he was given a residency at Utopia 126 in Barcelona. In 2019 he was featured in an interview with Art of Choice.
Adina Andrus works across various media, creating 2D mixed media pieces, sculptures, drawings and installations that confront questions of memory, belonging, and visual culture across time and space. Her works, while rooted in the ancient and folk art of her native country, Romania, allude to a universal pool of images and symbols that we inherit, consume and are guided by, while simultaneously interpreting them and contributing new, contemporary meanings.
Nature and geography have something in common: their boundaries are put in place by humans and are all but made up. Takashi Harada dissolves these natural and geographical boundaries in his artwork. For Takashi, all natural things have a common and equal value. When in nature, he believes, you connect back to it one atom at a time. Born in Japan, Takashi’s international existence made him face his Japanese identity as well his identity within the natural world. His art reflects that feeling, blurring natural light and color in ethereal paintings that merge harsh divisions and avoid representation in favor of capturing feeling.
Expressive and vulnerable, Molly’s paintings read like an unpredictably eloquent dream journal. A cloudy haze of bright colors are expertly synthesized to evoke memories of a time and place which feel familiar, though ultimately unknown. As a skilled colorist, Molly creates abstract moments of nostalgia and sentimentality. Molly’s pieces are made up of experiences, both lived and imagined. She is able to capture small moments and transfer them onto canvas.
Ellery Harkness (b. 1999, San Francisco, CA) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer living and working in New York, NY. Through studio work, research and writing, her practice examines the ideas of collage and abstraction of the everyday as ways to explore politics of the environment and portraiture. She mostly works in painting, video installation, photography, and mixed media collage. Harkness graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Visual Arts, Art History, and a minor in Political Science.
