Unusually monochromatic and cold, the icy blue wash transports you into a fantasy where what you see is what it is. The cherub and rhinestones are both key to that fantasy - "Many Spanish-speaking countries refer to rhinestones as “fantasy diamonds”", Juan says, "Everyone knows they’re fake but who cares, we’re still living our fantasy. I like to express that power and glamor."

Floating from Colombia, Texas, and now Chicago, Juan creates their own mythologies from narratives they encountered in these places - from cowboys in popular culture to the jungle that remains fond in their childhood memory. When placed in an alien setting like the jungle, cowboys no longer have the macho, confident air but look like tragic heroes and the clash between soccer players become more erotic than violent.
