Tiff Urquhart is a contemporary mixed media artist whose work bridges urban expressionism, abstraction, and layered cultural narrative. Drawing from street art, vintage Americana, environmental themes, and contemporary visual culture, her paintings explore the tension between nostalgia, consumerism, identity, and the rapidly shifting American landscape. Originally from Florida and now based on the East Coast, Urquhart has developed a distinctive visual language informed by graffiti, found media, natural ecosystems, and the visual residue of modern life. My work explores the layered relationship between culture, environment, memory, and consumption through abstraction, collage, and gestural mark-making. Many of my pieces incorporate fragments of mid-century media, consumer imagery, and repetitive patterns that reference systems of growth, development, agriculture, and mass production. I am interested in the contrast between what is marketed to us as beauty, progress, or success and the quieter realities hidden beneath those surfaces. Through vibrant color, movement, and layered composition, I aim to create work that feels simultaneously celebratory and questioning — seductive at first glance, but rooted in deeper conversations about perception, nostalgia, environmental change, and contemporary life. Whether viewed in a private collection, hospitality setting, editorial space, or cinematic environment, my goal is for the work to create an atmosphere that feels alive, emotionally charged, and open to interpretation.
