BIO
Theresa Bloise (born in Boston) received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design where she studied for a year in Rome as part of RISD’s European Honors Program. She has shown her work at Ortega y Gasset, Paradice Palase, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Smack Mellon, Kentler International Drawing Space, PS122 Gallery and Governor’s Island.
4 Billion years ago, the moon was so close to the earth that it would have appeared 15 times larger in the sky than it does now. Theresa Bloise makes metaphysical landscape paintings. Science that feels like science fiction inspires her most recent work. She uses small earthly objects as a reference, a small round stone for "Butter Moon" and pebbles on the sidewalk for "Close to the Terminating Line." She intends her work to be read as both still life and landscape: microscopic and monumental, primordial and apocalyptic.
