Sofia Echa is a Russian-American artist based in Los Angeles. Born in Vladivostok, Russia, in 1992, she studied art in Russia, the UK, and the US, receiving a degree in Japanese studies before graduating from the National Academy School in New York. Her work is held in private collections in both the US and Russia. Echa has donated work to prestigious art auctions and has exhibited solo in Vladivostok and New York. In 2018, her work was auctioned at Phillips auction house in New York.

My work explores presence, absence, and continuous movement through acrylics on metal and canvas. I use metal sheets to create illusions of reflection, exploring themes of distance and longing. The cool grays I favor provide a neutral base, while a thick glossy varnish adds sensuality and symbolizes feminine lifeforce. My process juxtaposes the 'heavy' material of metal with soft, delicate strokes. I challenge the perception of 'masculine' materials by using them to convey sensuality and strength.
