BIO
Rebecca Darlington is a New York–based visual artist living and working in Manhattan. She holds a BFA from the University of Georgia and developed her practice over many years in New York’s Hudson Valley, where she exhibited widely. She was a member of Gallery66NY, an artist-run gallery in Cold Spring, New York. Darlington’s work explores a visual language she calls Secret Logic—a world shaped by memory, nature, and intuitive mark-making. Drawing from landscapes such as Fort Tryon Park and the Hudson Valley, her paintings and collages weave together pattern, structure, and organic form, often echoing the intricate systems of lace, growth, and unseen connections. She is a fellowship recipient of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) in both Virginia and France, and CAMAC Centre d’Art in France. Her work is held in private collections throughout the United States.
Rebecca Darlington grew up living in foreign countries. Consequently belonging is the underlying theme in her artwork. Being planted, growing roots, being in community are her cornerstone concepts. Her latest series “In the Garden” is a riot of plants blooming furiously. She is inspired by the proliferation of wild vegetation. “They belong too. I want the plant world to be stronger than humanity. We need a reminder that humans do not own the world. How do we strengthen the balance?”
