Works in India
BIO
Peter Pundit moved to the US when he was 23 from India and that's when his art education and development began. He had no plans to become an artist, but found that he had the ability to create art. For a very long time, he did not understand abstraction but started appreciating the work of Chinese abstract painters - he liked that beauty was always central to their work.
I work with various digital media and explore its possibilities to create beauty that I hope will entrance the viewer. The first viewer being myself of course. I have no desire to create art with some kind of message or meaning. What I like to do is experiment and experiment till I have created something new to me and something I want to keep looking at again and again. The idea of working in one style does not suit me. In that regard, I identify with Gerhard Richter whose work involves experimentation and seems without the constraints of a singular style. We were taught that artists and art making do not serve a purpose that connects them to society in the way that doctors and engineers do. However I have come to realize that the man made world looks the way it does because of the artists and the artistic awareness in that society. Artists explore beauty the way scientists explore the physical universe
