I explore black ancestral culture and visual philosophy then try to channel it through my perspective with modern and ancient mediums.
Ahmed Partey is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Accra, Ghana. His practice spans painting, pastel drawing, sculpture, and digital media, including virtual and augmented reality. Rooted in Afro-Ancestral Spiritualism, his work brings Ga Samai, the visual proverbs of the Ga-Adangbe people, into conversation with contemporary forms of expression to explore identity, ancestry and spirituality.
Through surreal figures informed by masks, memory and ancestral archives, Partey bridges tradition and innovation, positioning African spiritual knowledge within global contemporary art. Partey’s work has been exhibited internationally at the Afrikin Art Fair during Miami Art Week, The Gund Gallery in the United States, Africa House in Davos, the Shanghai International Art Fair, NFT Paris and NFT.NYC. In Ghana, his work has been presented at the Chale Wote Street Art Festival and at Art After Dark, a pop-up exhibition held in collaboration with Trance Ghana. Most recently, he was named the winner of BE OPEN’s regional competition for emerging artists in West Africa.
His upcoming projects include an art exhibition in Accra, Ghana, culminating a three-month residency with Education Development Projects Trust at Awutu Winton Senior High School, where he taught art. Through continued experimentation and mentorship, Partey expands his Afro-Ancestral visual language and reimagines how African spiritual and aesthetic Traditions can shape future creative worlds.
