Snow White is one of the two remaining pieces from Sadkin’s 2016 NYC Toonology solo show. Toonology is an exploration of what is recognizable and what is not. The artist removed the faces of cartoon characters to entice the viewer to ask questions about themselves—Are they really who they portray themselves to be? Are they a character that they have manipulated and sold to people? How much of ourselves is genuine?

She’s not just a consumer though. Whether in circular canvas or a frame of botanical patterns, Ellanah constantly interrupts the coherence of mass media narratives by rearranging their elements.
