Dolores Lusitana's life long passion for photography has taken many forms, from documentary, photojournalism, commercial commissions, to fine art. Predominantly a self-taught artist, she learned the fundamentals of photography by documenting visiting arts programs in struggling, underfunded inner-city NYC elementary schools. She was subsequently commissioned to document live theatrical performances, ranging from independent productions at what is now St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn to Paul Simon concert performances internationally. Apprenticeships with Sid Avery and work with the George Hurrell Estate led to her becoming a master BW archival printer, deepening her understanding and appreciation for the fine art print.
