Untitled white paintings are never purely white - that’s perhaps why they are untitled first and white in parentheses. Jacqueline Ferrante is inspired by surfaces she studies out in the world that have been weathered and given a story by the passage of time. Here, we see a glimpse of blended colors beneath the top wash of white, like a cinder block chipping away to reveal old posters and graffiti underneath.
