David Louis Cintron

"Inspired by the outside natural world as well as the inner spiritual world, David’s color-rich and expressive abstract paintings are about breathing life into a visual story that transcends the picture plane, containing mystery and wonder beyond words and definitions. Painting intuitively with simultaneous intention and action, his work is an exploration and discovery of form and formlessness, negative space and imagined structures, depicting images emergent from the unconscious mind—visual propositions of both a macro and micro scale universe."

Inspired by the natural world and the inner spiritual realm, my artistic practice functions as a daily grounding meditation—an expression of what I notice.

With more than 36 years of experience in painting, drawing, and design, my creative process is guided by deeply trusted intuition. My ink drawings and colorful acrylic paintings emerge through a continual interplay between automatism and conscious decision-making. I work without predetermined outcomes, allowing images and forms to emerge from the unconscious, then stepping back to consider color, composition, pattern, shape, space, and dimension.

My work explores form and formlessness, energy and movement, and imagined structures and scenes that contain mystery and wonder beyond words and definitions. I occasionally recognize familiar forms and may cultivate them just enough while often allowing identification to remain elusive. The intervals between work sessions provide space for reflection and discovery and are an essential temporal aspect of my process.
