Dimensions: Height 72 in x Width 72 in.
Medium: Spray paint on nylon shower curtain
Part of Juan Negroni's Sudden change of wind series, Vertigo Fountain was spray painted on a common household object: a shower curtain. Although it maintains Juan's favorite sprouting form in the center spewing energy in all directions, the large size of this work and the ripples of the curtain give it a much more expressionistic look. As hinted by the curtain, Juan's interest in domestic spaces comes from his memory of gardens and other shared spaces being integral to harmonious life in a small Puerto Rican household.
Born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico / Works in Dallas, TX
Sometimes, a feeling, story, or place are so intricately colorful it’s impossible to describe them in words. Sometimes, all three exist at once. This is certainly the case for Juan Negroni, who’s mixed media paintings map out memories and spaces in the abstract, playing with colors and motifs that pay homage to his home; Puerto Rico. Now based in Texas, Juan takes us up close to a vibrant garden where overlapping neon colored plants and patterns make nature itself seem dull.
