Matsumoto's The Rise and Fall series fills the viewer with a sense of freedom. This work, no. 17, is particularly interesting since Matsumoto decided to include three birds instead of just one, like in some of the other works in her collection. Although Matsumoto's techniques gives off the impression that we are looking at a collage, this series is done in oil, which shows her mastery of the medium.

The work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.

    Works in Brooklyn

Lauren is a painter who straddles the best of both worlds: collage and painting; abstract backgrounds like East Asian inkwash paintings and naturalistic renderings straight out of encyclopedias; patterns and depth. The birds perch where we yield space for them, living precariously among manmade contraptions.
