The three different parts of Slow Decay VI reveal different aspects of Meillier's work. The rustiness of the bottom right half reveals an industrial quality to the work, while the other two sections are reminiscing of the education revolution caused by the "Information Age."
Josh Meillier's work is the soothing sound of nails on chalkboard. The blackboard imagery relates to education revolution caused by the Internet. Indeed, the icy cold palette and industrial texture - of steel, aluminum, or concrete - add to the uncertainty if what the viewer is seeing is an illusion floating in that manmade space or some familiar reality. In this case, receiving mixed signals is a good thing.
