    Koi Pon

    Original Artwork

Dimensions: Height 36 in x Width 24 in.

Medium: Acrylic and pencil on canvas

[From the artist] “Koi Pon” comes out of a time when I was trying to push the extremes of color in my paintings. I had recently visited family in Florida and was feeling bright and vivid with the colors of coral and teal. I wanted to see how far apart I could begin with a family of colors and then find the connections between- the tan, topaz, and silver. Ultimately, the swishing colors reminded me of bright orange koi (goldfish) swimming in botanical garden ponds.

“Koi Pon” comes from when Kimmy was trying to push the extremes of color in her paintings. Works in Brooklyn

Kimmy Quilin with her choppy bob haircut and a living room shrouded in warm clay colors, could be her own indie movie heroine. Underlying Kimmy’s study of colors and forms, whether in expressionistic strokes or recent minimalism, is a love and attention to things around her.
