Tell us about yourself & how you became an artist

I always have been drawing pictures since as far as I can remember. I have never thought of any other way to go.

What is your art addressing? What kind of message do you want to convey through your art?

There are still unexplored areas in our perception and understanding of the world. Through my art, I want to take on the challenge of expanding such worldviews, even if only a little.

What kind of emotions do you want to stir in your audience?

I always want to provide a massive impact on the audience who experience my work and learn about the concept behind it, so that they will feel that their previous world is completely different and they will never come back.

What is your creative process?

In recent years, I have concentrated on finding common points with my idea of art through conversations with experts in different fields and creating works that link it to the context of art history and update them.

What impact does living in New York have on you?

The extremes of human society and meta-perspectives.

How has your art changed throughout your career?

A major turning point in my career came in 2015 when I received a residency program at the Kavli Institute for Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Tokyo. I developed a special interest in the complex mechanism of superstring theory, a major research area at the institute, which led me to the concept of "Dimensionism." Since then, my work has been aimed at changing our perception of higher dimensions by targeting them while exchanging ideas with experts from various fields.

What do you want people to know about you or your art that we haven't asked?

Absolutely. My latest work, PION, is an experiential installation, but the concept includes the experience of being free from the gravity of the earth. Therefore, my next project is to gather talented people from all over the world to launch the first ever art satellite that will be physically experienced in space. I am convinced that this iteration will be a step toward co-creating a common identity of "Earthling" in the true sense of the word for the next generation of human beings living in the true space age era.
